About Me
Hello! I’m Kerry McLoughlin, and welcome to my website, showcasing all the coloured pencil artwork I have created since beginning this journey in January 2024, blending my love of art and animals. I am based in Australia, a Physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates instructor by profession, and a self-taught, award-winning wildlife artist by passion.
The daughter of a highly successful artist, I have always enjoyed experimenting with various crafts, from paint-pouring clocks and placemats, to creating grey-lead human portraits and polymer clay earrings.
However, I discovered my true passion in coloured pencil wildlife drawings. For me, creating art is a meditative and deeply satisfying activity, and I find immense joy in bringing visually appealing and meaningful creations to life.

Born and initially raised in South Africa, I have always maintained a connection to the animals of my homeland. This appreciation of animals has been enriched through having pets of my own, including cats, dogs and horses. Drawn to the soulfulness in animals’ eyes, vibrant colours and the unique angles and meaning captured in animal photography, I use reference images taken by myself and credited photographers, translating these images into life-like drawings.

Reference imagery that I use also includes treasured photographs that individuals have taken of their pets for commissioned artworks, in which I take great satisfaction being tasked with capturing their true essence and personality in a creative keepsake, some of which feature in the ‘Commissions’ tab gallery.

I was awarded First Place in the 2024 FAS Awards Exhibition for my pencil drawing of a Leopard titled ‘Fight or Flight,’ and had a solo exhibition ‘Pencils and Paws, Feathers and Claws,’ housing all my original drawings. I have now expanded into creating quality fine art prints and canvas prints for wall hangings and merchandise, which can be seen and ordered directly in the ‘Merchandise’ tab.

I work exclusively with professional artist-grade, highly light-fast coloured pencils, on archival acid-free surfaces (mostly Drafting Film), which guarantee lasting quality for many lifetimes.
